I wish that was what I would be saying tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, way way early in the morning, we are going to go exchange cars with my in-laws. You know what that means? Driving through Kansas again. That was seriously one of my least favorite drives I have ever taken and I have to do it again…twice. Not only do we have to drive through it tomorrow to meet them in St. Louis, we have to drive back through it the next day to come home. Not ok, man, not ok. I love driving and I love road trips but not through flat, hot, Kansas. One thing I will say is that I am super stoked about having the Jeep back. This suburban is a gas guzzler and I just miss how the jeep drives and how easy it is to park. I have never been the best parker and driving a big boat is not making it any better. I have gotten comfortable with it but I am ready for the jeep that is for sure.
On our way across the country the first time, I had planned to really make progress on some knitting projects. I ended up not making nearly as much progress as I wanted. Hopefully, this time, I will make much more progress. I have some projects that are bigger ones and need to be done in a couple months. So, I will definitely be taking at least one of them along with me to work on while TJ is driving and I wait for my shifts to drive.
Update on the rug: it is coming along. I have 10 rows done and I have three more ready to go on. They will most likely be worked on while I watch the olympics tonight. Who is excited for the olympics?! I know I am!
Today is an absolutely perfect day. It has not been too hot outside which is always a plus and now there is a pretty decent rain storm rolling through. I love rain and not going to lie but there has just been a little too much sunshine for my taste lately. I need a good rainstorm every now and then. Being in the high and dry here in Aurora has made me realize just how much I miss and love rain! I love listening to the power of the thunder and the refreshing pitter patter of rain on the leaves and ground. I love listening to the wind and seeing lightning. It just uplifts my spirit and inspires me to create more and read and learn. I don’t know what it is but I honestly feel like I would be super happy in a predominantly rainy area such as Seattle. Yet, here I am enjoying what I can get in the high and dry climate of Colorado.
Before it started raining today, TJ and I went to the library. I am always bugging him to go with me. It is free and it is a place where I can just let my imagination run wild with the books I find there. Our route to the library takes us right past the memorial for the Aurora movie theatre shooting. I honestly had not seen the memorial yet. I had seen flowers on the blockades when they had the street blocked off but now I got to see the memorial that the local residents have put up for the victims of this horrible event. I want to get out there and take a picture or two to show you but have not had the chance yet. The people of Aurora have truly gathered to support the victims and their families and seeing this brought a lump to my throat as we drove by. I just don’t understand how anyone could do such a horrible act. And thinking about the victims that died and their stories and their ages is just heart breaking. Please just keep those families in your prayers as they go through this rough time.
Well, I am off to read my awesome books I got from the library today and enjoy listening to the rain!
