Ok, so I mentioned that I was going to actually start doing the things that I pin on pinterest. I am fully aware that I have not really been doing great at that, or blogging, or knitting, or keeping up with my reading. Life just gets in the way sometimes. I know I know, excuses excuses. Well, here I am making a concerted effort to actually start trying the things I pin on pinterest. With this one, I am giving you a heads up before I start it, instead of just telling you about it afterwards.
I graduated with a youth ministry degree this past May and one thing that we have realized that affects students significantly is their parents marriage or marriages depending on the family. That has been one thing that has not necessarily scared me but definitely motivated me in regards to my marriage. I have always been one who wants to make sure that our relationship is fresh and we don’t get sick of each other. I am pretty sure I regularly come to TJ and am just overwhelmed by life and thus feel like I am a horrible wife and he could do better etc. This tendency of mine has shown me that I definitely can’t make this marriage work on my own and neither can TJ. This probably sounds like a newlywed issue. We are way past the honeymoon stage and that can be a little depressing. I have come to realize that the sparks and the passion can still be there (yes, I know its only been a year and those of you married for much longer know much more than I do) even after the honeymoon phase. It really just takes the effort to strive for that romance in our relationship. Well, one way I have found that helps me is by praying for my hubby. I was looking through my boards on pinterest and came across this one that lists 10 ways to pray for your husband. I am going to take the next ten days and pick a specific way to pray for my husband each day. I challenge you to do it with me. It will be a great time to really put them in God’s hands and just build our relationship with them as well. So, here are the ten ways to pray for your husband that can be found here.
1. I pray for my husband’s relationship with God. 2. I pray that God would bless my husband. 3. I pray for my husband to be the spiritual leader of our family. 4. I pray for my husband to love me deeply. 5. I pray for my husband to have a heart for God’s work. (I changed this one from “his children” because we don’t have any lol) 6. I pray for my husband to make wise choices. 7. I pray for my husband’s mental, emotional, and physical health. 8. I pray for my husband to prosper at work. 9. I pray for my husband’s power to resist sexual temptation.
10. I pray that I will show my husband respect, grace, and kindness.
So, I challenge you to join me as I pray for my hubby this week. Pray for yours and watch how it affects your relationship.
