And just like that we are at the end of October… Oh geez…
Where has this year gone?! I feel like I just went on a camping trip and next thing I realize that was over 2 months ago! What?! I had all these hopes of losing a decent amount weight before my friends wedding two weeks ago. That didn’t happen lol!
I am going to have an honest and raw moment with you guys. I have gained 30lbs. since my wedding day and I have even gained weight since August! I tried to put a dress on last night that I had worn in August to a friend’s bridal shower. Yeah, it did not end up fitting very well. I got it on but not well! That was a huge wake up call for me. I have never noticed a change that affected my immediate clothes that dramatically. I have worn that dress once so it isn’t like it shrunk or anything.
That being said, I am vowing to you as my readers and to myself that I will live a much healthier lifestyle from here on out! Ski season is coming and in my current condition, I will not be able to really enjoy myself or push as hard as I want to. That is unacceptable. I have dreams of running races, long long races. I can’t do that with my current lifestyle. Something has to give.
From here on out you will most likely see more posts of me trying to achieve that healthy lifestyle I long for. You will see me playing outside and pushing myself in the outdoors. I can’t wait to share my achievements with you and my adventures as well! Hopefully some pups will go along with me so you get to see their cute faces every now and then! Lol! Faelyn is pretty cute to look at 😉
Let’s do this!
So, while I say that Huskies are wonderful, they also are not great sometimes. They have their quirks. I mean that is just like any dog you know? Huskies can just be way more intense about their quirks than some dogs.
Reasons NOT to Have Huskies
~ They are crazy! Like seriously insane. Faelyn at four and a half is just now finally starting to calm down. If you do not get them out, they will get destructive. They are a high energy dog and need to be taken out regularly. They really must live in an active lifestyle.
~ They are very independent. If you give them a command they will often look at you and think “that sounds like a good idea, but let me see if that fits in with my plan.” They like to do what they want to do, not always what you want them to do.
~ They are extremely smart. This is great sometimes but sometimes they are just too smart for their own good. They will get in trouble in ways that you never expected they would. They get into things you didn’t think they knew what it was.
~ They like to run. And I mean run. When they escape from an enclosed space they pick one direction and just keep on running. It takes a lot to get them back. We often have to bribe our boys with car rides. We pull up alongside them and ask them if they want to go for a ride. That is the only way that we can get them to come home.
~ They can be highly destructive. HIGHLY. Most of the time most people don’t understand that a husky is not your typical family dog. They are not great to just be left inside. They need attention and running or hiking or just getting out and exercising. They are a working dog. They make wonderful family dogs if you are a very active family. If not, don’t get one. You will be so upset with this dog all the time. You have to keep them active otherwise they get cabin fever and destroy things.
So, when you think about getting a Husky, please keep both of these posts in mind and make sure you are getting the right fit for your family as well as for them!
I love my two huskies more than anything (except maybe my husband ;P ). I don’t think everyone should have them. They are their own special breed. You have to have the right dynamic to have huskies. Anyway, that is for the next post. But here are the reasons they are awesome!
~ They are crazy! I know I know most people don’t think that is a great reason to have a dog. But I love their spastic crazy personalities. They have so much personality.
(btw not my photo but so stinking hilarious and true) My boys would definitely try something like this.
~They have amazingly beautiful eyes! Bright blue or even mismatched colors!
This is my little man, his eyes are so bright and blue, I love it!
~They sleep in the most hilarious positions!
These are just a few of the positions I have caught both of them in.
~They are pack dogs. This means they are extremely loyal. Not only to each other but to their owners as well. It is a great trait that I wouldn’t trade for the world. That doesn’t mean they have to be by your side at all times because they are still insanely independent.
I love having huskies! I don’t think I would want any other breed. They are wonderful!
Alrighty, so much for trying to finish strong lol. I promise they will all be posted before the end of March though.
March 26: Playing With Shadow
Love the colors on this one!
March 27: Natural Light
I get some really great natural light that streams in through my windows 🙂
March 28: Incorporate Motion
A little blurry but they were being so crazy and running like mad men lol
March 29: Clouds
I can’t wait for life to get green again 🙂
Keep an eye out tomorrow for the last picture of the photo challenge!
Sorry about the delay on this one too guys. I spent the past two days enjoying the amazing 70 degree weather we have been having! I have to get outside just to keep my sanity lol. I got to go hiking yesterday with my little man Faelyn and went for a run today! Love it! But anyway, back to the photography challenge!
Something From a Distance:
I get to call this home! How beautiful is that?! I think that might be pike’s peak but I could be wrong. I can’t quite remember.
Whatever I Want:
These two are besties for sure! They really do love hanging out with each other and playing with each other. It gives them each a buddy so that they are not so lonely. I love both personalities.
Anyway, enough about my children lol.
I figured since I had already showed you pictures of my little man, I had to show you a picture of my big boy, Halo. He is a 9 year old husky that we have been fostering for a friend but we have a feeling he might have just found a home with us. He is wonderful! He and Faelyn get along so well its great!
What a cutie right?
So, today Faelyn provided a perfect opportunity to post a picture of whatever I want. His bed is the futon in our living room. He loves that futon and gets upset when you are on it lol. That’s ok though because we are not on it very often. The couch is way more comfy anyway. I love my dog. He is essentially my child and so I post a lot of pictures of him lol. I just couldn’t help it today, his face is so cute!
I mean, honestly, how can you not love that face?!?! So adorable!
Last night is snowed, today it is around 55 degrees and tomorrow is 70. What is up with Denver weather?! This is so strange. lol.
I always love Sundays. Lately, TJ has had to work all day on Sundays and so it has become my day to catch up on life from the previous week or weeks. Lol. I will admit, not nearly as easy as it sounds. I realize that I let alot of things go when I get busy throughout the week. I don’t make dinners as much. I don’t do as much laundry or the dishes. I don’t read as much. I don’t knit as much. I don’t work on projects that I have been wanting to do for awhile. It just gets pushed to the side. So, Sunday has become the day I get to focus on the things that I want or need to focus on. Not necessarily errands or anything. Those I can do on my way home from work each day. No, this is stuff that I don’t usually have time to think about during the week. It helps me start my week off on the right track.
It is a day of productivity. A day of rejuvenation. A day where I feel like me the most. I day when I can take things at my pace and get things done the way I want to get things done. I love it. I woke up with a sense of purpose this morning and it was awesome.
I feel like I’m rambling. But today, I got up and did some reading. I borrowed a whole bunch of books from my brother so I am desperately trying to read them. Lol. Then I took Faelyn and we went for a walk/jog this morning. It was a beautiful day, so I had to get outside. I did not run as much as I wanted because I slammed my right knee into a handhold yesterday while climbing in the gym. But I was able to get it moving again and that was good.
I have come to realize I am a little heavier than I would like to be. I also tried on some dresses last night and wasn’t thrilled with my current state as shown in the mirror. So, hence the reason for going out today. I also downloaded the MyFitnessPal App to work in conjunction with the RunKeeper App. That way I know my calorie intake as well as how much I am running. I will most likely really start focusing on that tomorrow. But I am determined to get back in shape. I have been looking at healthier options for food too. I have a really bad sweet tooth as well I just love food! So, I want to find a way to be healthy about it. So here goes my journey!
TJ and I have the day off together again tomorrow. I think we might go hike around the Flat Irons near Boulder and spend the day up there. Should be fun! Gotta keep both of us active! I miss date days with my man, so that should be great tomorrow!
I also really need to work on my halloween costume for work! I can’t believe it is only a couple days away.
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
So, this week and next week and even last week I have been and will continue to be super busy! REI is having their anniversary sale starting on Friday through the 27th. We have been preparing for it for a while but our event trucks which bring the products that will be on sale during the anniversary sale have been coming in. Our storage is so full! I have no idea where in the world we are going to put all the product that is coming in today, and the next couple of days. So, anyway, I am working everyday this week until Sunday. It is going to be a long week. Posts may be few but I will do my best to keep up here!
I am currently reading The Tiger’s Wife. By the way, adding it to the 52 books list and it is definitely a must read.
I did try a new recipe the other night. It was a breaded chicken with a creamy sauce and some mashed potatoes. It was amazingly delicious! You could also easily eat it with pasta! I was kind of in a hurry and did not take any pictures, but TJ agreed it was definitely a repeat recipe and I will be making it again hopefully sometime soon.
I do have a funny Faelyn story about the chicken that we were going to be using for dinner the other night. I had been thawing some chicken on a plate on the counter. I had completely forgotten about it when I ran to Starbucks to participate in happy hour (half off frappucino). I honestly did not even think about the chicken until I was back home unlocking the back door to come in. I was really hoping he was oblivious and did not even notice the chicken on the counter. Nope, he most definitely noticed. He took one of two pieces of chicken I had out. He was very pleased with himself lol! Such a goofball.
Hope your week has started out awesome!
Wow, this week has had a mix of slow and fast sections. I’ve been busy and also not quite so busy.
I am not really even sure what happened at the beginning of the week. All I know was it was definitely uneventful. Nothing special to report on that front. I did spend some time gathering more books for my 52 Books/52 Weeks Challenge. That is always exciting. I even found some books at the library that I liked and were on my list so I snatched those up. I must say, I love libraries. I definitely do not have the money for books on a regular basis right now (unless they are steals at Goodwill or some other thrift store) and so being able to get them at the library is a highlight of my week sometimes.
The system at REI was still having trouble getting me into the system at the beginning of the week. No biggie. Finally, on Thursday I was able to start training. It was pretty straightforward and easy. I got to work a whole shift which was nice. I wasn’t stuck at home feeling like a shmuck for not helping support our little family. Friday I was also able to go in and work for a bit. I really was able to get comfortable with their cashier system and memberships and dividends and such so that made me feel more confident and less under pressure at that point.
Saturday brought a day off for the two of us and since we had both been working, it really did feel like a day off. We found a nearby dog park (that was a little smaller than the one closest to our house) and we took our little man to play there. He had been getting a little antsy lately and just wanting to run and play more. We thought this would be a great opportunity for him to get out and run and also get to play with some other dogs. He absolutely loved it. Even after TJ unleashed him and was still holding onto him, you could tell he knew he was getting a chance to run and play. It was only about 75 degrees as a high yesterday so we knew it would be a perfect day for him to test out the park without getting too overheated. The only “problem” we had was he was having so much fun, he did not want to stop and take a drink. That led to extra salivating and he had a goatee of saliva bubbles by the time we left. I felt bad because I did not want other dog owners to think he had rabies or something because he is up to date on all of his shots and vaccinations. But he just had no interest in slowing down to take a drink. We think it will be one of his favorite places in the world when it cools down and once he gets used to it enough to stop and take a drink every now and then lol.
After the dog park, we came home and hung around while he got his breathe back and we figured it was ok to leave him be without him freaking out. I was super tired and laid on the floor for a bit while we waiting and he decided to get super playful. Well, TJ who was laying on the floor next to me threw Faelyn’s toy and he came back with the toy to give it to TJ and decided my face was a perfectly good stepping stone to get to TJ. I had no idea he was even there. I thought he was still over by the door. The I get a nice big paw scratch right on/under my right eye. Oh boy, did that hurt. I have a nice mark and the swelling was so bad at first that I was mortified someone would think it was domestic abuse or something. It has definitely gone down today but walking into REI to get TJ’s schedule yesterday I definitely got a look or two.
My little man just plays rough sometimes.
After getting TJ’s schedule, we then went and looked at houses in the area. We found this one that I had fallen in love with while we were still in PA. It had sold before we got out here but I still think about that house all the time. Well, we drove past it and it was even cuter in person than it was online. I mean I did not get to see the inside but the outside was everything I thought was going to be and more. It was beautiful! So, I told TJ that we have to keep an eye out if it comes back on the market. I love it lots!
Today, TJ had to be in at work at 11. 😦 And since we only have one vehicle, that meant I was not going to go church searching and I did not want to do that without my hubby anyway. So, here I am, cleaning and reading and just enjoying my day. Hopefully this week brings more work. We could definitely use the money.
