Alrighty guys, here is to the end of another year! 2014 has been good, I have a feeling 2015 will be better! I am super excited for what this coming year has to bring! I am super grateful for what this past year has offered!
It has been such a blessing to spend time with friends and loved ones! There have been ups and there have been downs, but all in all it has been a great year!
I went to Hawaii with my best friend!
Another amazing Husky came into my life!
I got to spend lots of time outside in this beautiful state!
I got to spend time with some amazing friends!
And the skiing has been great!
What more could a girl ask for?!
Hope you guys have an amazing New Year’s Eve! Stay safe!
See you next year my friends!
Alright, so clearly this has been a hard challenge to keep up with! I just get so distracted with other things in life! Lol! My bad. Anyway, lets get caught up here!
March 17: Street Lights
I did not manage to get it all lit up but I thought this was kind of cool on a super dreary day. Lol
March 18: Depicting Emotion
The look on these two faces is hilarious! They were having so much fun exploring. Miss you Alexi!
March 19: Landscape
Why yes, yes I do live in one of the most awesome places ever!
March 20: Whatever You Want
One of our close Friends (his name is also TJ). This picture definitely shows how much he loves climbing lol.
March 21: Sunset
The sunsets here in Colorado are amazing! They never cease to amaze me!
March 22: Someone You Love
Gotta spread the love around! This is my other sister Katie! Missing both sisters lots!
March 23: Childhood Memory
I guess this is more high school but it is one of my favorite memories! Grandpa and Grandma visited me at Hume Lake and we drove around the lake in his sports car. Miss you Grandpa!
March 24: Favorite Color Scheme
Purple and Orange! It looks kind of blue in this picture but it is definitely purple! Plus this picture has all my favorite people in it! 😛
Well, there we are! All caught up! Phew. I promise to finish out the month strong!
Alright, so there is only a couple days until the first 30 Day Challenge starts! I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous just about trying to keep up with them throughout the year. I know it will be so good for my writing but at the same time, life gets so busy apart from this blog. But I am determined! I am also such a people pleaser that the thought of even letting myself down by not keeping up is often times enough to keep me on track. Lol! Please stay tuned to see the awesomeness that is coming along with these blog post challenges! Feel free to keep up too!
On another challenge note, I started that reading challenge a year and a half ago. I have realized how hard it is to read that much. Lol! But I do have another book review coming up soon! I am almost done with this book so you will have to wait and see what it is!
I have a winter sport that I love dearly. Skiing really energizes me and it is so wonderful to ski with my hubby! It is something we really really connect on. Well, I was looking for a summer sport too because as much as I like hiking, it really is not all that exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I love taking my pup, well now pups, out there and enjoying the beauty of nature as well as taking pictures but I wanted something a little more aerobic as well as something a little more exciting! So, over the last two days I have been giving this mountain bike a try. It has only been on some well kept trails and service roads but we are going to be hitting a more fun trail here pretty soon! I think this is definitely going to be my new summer sport. I had so much fun yesterday on our 12.5 mile ride. It was so great to get out with an awesome group of people and get my cardio up as well as doing something fun! I can’t wait to go out again! Unfortunately, we were having so much fun that I may or may not have forgotten to take a picture lol! Next time for sure.
Here comes the challenges!
See you soon!
I got a new cookbook this week! It was kind of a splurge or investment if you will. I don’t usually buy cookbooks. I have a stack of them that I have gotten as gifts and I love them! I especially love the ones my mom made for me! But I usually end up finding stuff on pinterest and whatnot. This one is a cookbook that a friend of mine has. He always makes some of the best pastries and breads. I knew I had to have this book. The book is called Tartine by Elisabeth M. Prueitt and Chad Robertson, the owners of the Tartine bakery in San Francisco. I got the book and have already made two of the recipes out of it. I made Buttermilk Scones and Fruit Gaelettes. Both were supremely delicious and a huge success with friends!
The Scones recipe had them doing fruit but I had some chocolate chips I wanted to use. It turned out just as good. (Although, I think I will be doing raspberry scones tomorrow.)
I made them a little big but oh well! I think tomorrow I will cut the raspberry ones into littler squares.
Then I made the Fruit Gaelettes for dinner with some friends last night.
Oh man! They were so yummy! The strawberries were the freshest I have had since living in Fresno, California. They were amazing! So I made a Strawberry Apple Gaelette. The flavors were perfect together! A friend that was there last night, had no idea I made them and was going on about how we should hire the friend who originally had this book to make pastries for our hypothetical shop we want to open. He then was informed I made them. Lol. Best compliment ever! Being compared to someone who makes deliciousness! Yes!
Anyway, had to share the yumminess!
I started following a local blogger here in Denver back in about April or so before we moved to Denver just to kind of get an idea of some of the awesome things to do and see in the Denver area. She posted about the Rackhouse Pub back in May and I thought that sounded delicious.
Well, I must say her post completely did the restaurant justice. We went rock climbing with some friends at a local gym and then we were hungry afterward so we decided to grab a drink and some food. Rackhouse pub at Stranahan’s Distillery was the place that was decided on for our food ventures.
It was amazing! I got a pizza and ended up finishing it except for one slice that TJ ate. TJ got the Daybreak burger, which is a burger with corned beef, bacon, cheese, a fried egg, onion and tomato. His side was the molasses baked beans. Oh my goodness, anyone who comes to visit must indeed try this awesomeness! I had a Milk stout with my pizza. Dude, so yummy!
It also had just a classy/chill atmosphere as well. Dimish lights. But not too dim to where you can’t hardly tell what you are eating! Leather booths and dark tables. It was awesome! OOOOO one of the super cool things was, they were playing a silent movie on their TV screens and yet still had some chill music playing quietly in the background. Such a great atmosphere.
The waiter was great. Left us be when we got our food. Very polite and yet super chill so that it didn’t frustrate him when we switched tables when we got a bigger group.
It was a great dinner and a nice time to just relax and hang out with awesome friends.
Check it out if you haven’t already!
Sorry I forgot to take pictures…..
So, as you may have noticed, I am horribly inconsistent with my blogging. I try to be better, but I have just not been home at all since my last post. There is so much going on in our lives right now. We are working tons and getting ready for the holidays and getting up to date on a bunch stuff that life throws at you.
Let’s do a mini update.
~ I may have found the reason for my massive migraines and the options I have to fix that. Yay for a change in meds!
~ We are moving hopefully in January. Our lease is up and we are looking at both apartments and houses. Nothing set in stone, but there are options out there.
~Student loans kick in in January… *plays music that indicates doom*. Working on getting that lowered.
~ Going skiing for Thanksgiving! Well, we may or may not ski, we will see. But we get to spend time with our family away from family. A bunch of people from work are going to Arapaho Basin and it should be a great Thanksgiving when I can’t be home with my family!
~ So many thoughts going on in my head, it really is hard to put it all in here. I promise to share some of them later.
But for now, Happy Thanksgiving if I don’t get back on before!
Well, the A-Z Challenge is over. I had such a great time posting for the challenge. Would it be bad if I found another challenge to make posts for? I mean I graduate next week and need some fun to do and post about. After I graduate I’m going to have to adjust the about me section. That is exciting! Come the first week of July, I will have tons to post about!
We are moving the first week of July! We are looking at a house at the moment, but it is so hard to check out a house and get things moving to buy the house form half way across the country. You can tell we are new at this whole moving across the country and buying a home deal. I think that is part of the fun though! We are having this adventure together! I honestly would not want to do this adventure with anyone else. I promise to take pictures and post them of our move across the country. It will be so exciting! The packing, the driving, the securing the house, the unpacking, and the making the home my own. This is such an adventure and I honestly can’t wait to take it! Less than two months!
Everything really started settling in yesterday. I finished all of my internship paperwork and it was ready to submit and I realized that I was graduating next week. Four years have led to this and I can’t even believe it is finally here! I have worked super hard for this moment. I have gone through late nights, all nighters, cafeteria food, a 400 page paper, financial obstacles, having to request into classes, and changing a major to get to this moment and it is finally here! Not only is it here for me, but I get to share in this moment with my dad who is walking with me. That is a huge deal for me. He was always pushing me to finish my degree because he had never finished his, and now we get to finish it together! Yay Dad! I couldn’t be more proud.
Tomorrow brings about another day of homework, I am trying to get it all done in the next two days so that I do not have to worry about it all weekend and I do not have to think about it at the beginning of next week either! I want this next week and a half to be more relaxing than stressful so that I can enjoy my graduation and time with my family.
I’ll post more later.
I went and organized my yarn last night because I realized that my knitting projects were getting away all over the apartment. I felt bad for my husband because I literally have yarn and knitting projects everywhere! So, I organized and have come to realize I have a good amount of yarn.
I have grown especially fond of 100%cotton yarn. It is super comfortable and super lightweight and yet sturdy. I just love it!
I have one box that is just for my Epic Blanket of Insanity. It has all 100% cotton yarn and some merino wool yarn. I am going all organic with this blanket and loving every minute of it! I have found some amazing colors. You can see this pictured in my previous post. There will be more colors added to it too! Haha. I am honestly having so much fun with this blanket.
I also have another box that has more yarn that is for another project that is a secret for now. 😉 I will have pictures later and possible hints. However, it is not all organic yarn. It is predominantly acrylic. This project does not need to be all organic to serve its purposes. In order to get this project and my Epic Blanket done, I will have my hands busy knitting alot over the next several months. But the long ride to Denver will prove to be a great time to get some massive amounts of knitting done! It is coming so soon!!!! Yay!!!
Well, I am off to keep knitting.
Yes, I am aware I skipped x but I had no idea what to write. Haha!
Ok, I know that this post is several days late but my weekend was super crazy! What with working, homework, internship, meetings, and more homework it was just a whirl of a weekend. But here is the post nonetheless.
So, I have had several friends ask me recently, why do I blog?
I gave them the typical vague answer of its fun. While that is definitely part of my answer, I think there is more to it than that. I blog for a lot of reasons.
One of them is that I love learning something new and sharing what I am learning with other people. I seriously love learning new knitting techniques, new climbing moves or techniques, new recipes, new places to visit, a better way to start a business, etc. I just love finding out how other people do things. So, not only am I learning but I love to share my findings with other people. I am not someone who can just keep something that I just figured out to myself. I am constantly telling my husband about a new recipe or a new technique I learned in knitting (poor TJ).
Another reason why I blog kind of goes along with the first one, it gives me an opportunity to find people with similar interests and who are much better at doing some things than I am. I can go and read their blogs and find out more about how they do certain things and learn from them. It provides me with such a wide variety of outlets to learn from that I love it!
I also love the community that comes with blogging. Fifteen to twenty years ago there was no blogging. We did not have this outlet to see how other people live their lives all around the world. We did not have this way of communicating with people we had never met in person. There are people that I have met through blogging that I would not have had any other chance of meeting. You really get to know all kinds of different people who lead different lives than you and that is just wonderful to me! I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and taking part in their lives and this is just one way that I can do that.
I also love to blog because it gives me a creative outlet to where I can share what I’m learning with who I am meeting, and I can also talk about current projects and life in general. It helps me get out some of my talking so that I do not keep my husband up too late talking about what I’m learning. Although, some days I start reading other peoples blogs and finding out more and more cool stuff and then those nights I feel bad because I do not shut up to my husband.
Blogging is just fun! It is a great outlet and a great way to meet new people and a great way to build a business. I would recommend blogging to just about everyone!
P.S. Here is my progress on my Epic Blanket of Insanity
Its comin along!
This topic is something that is ver special to me and very important in my life. I am someone who tends to prefer to stay home and would rather curl up with a book instead of going out with friends most nights. This is something that I have gotten a lot of time to do since we have moved to Altoona. I have greatly enjoyed the time that I have had with my in-laws and my church and the wonderful ladies I have met at my jobs but I miss my friends from school. We knew each other really well and we saw each other every single day. That is a time that I miss and memories that I definitely treasure!
I think friendship is important in anyone’s life. Friends keep you grounded and challenge you and bring different ideas that help you grow in any area of your life. I am looking forward to moving to Denver and finding people who enjoy doing things that I like to do. It is hard to find those kind of people where I currently live. I definitely took for granted the time I had with friends in college. Piece of advice for those still in college and high school: Enjoy every minute you have with your friends now, because that time does not last forever.
