So, it is day 2 of NaBloPoMo! How is it going for you guys so far?! I love this! I seriously love lists way too much!
Today’s list is especially close to my heart. I know guys, I know super cheesy but hey you gotta have some cheese sometimes right?!
3 Things I Love About My Husband!
1~His smile! It gets me every time. I have always had a thing for twinkly eyes and boy does he have them. There is always so much mischief in his eyes. I love it so much!
He is the handsome stud in the green hat turning around to the camera.
2~ His hugs! I couldn’t find a picture of us really hugging but I think this one is pretty close and I love it because it shows on his face what he conveys in his hugs. He loves me so much and I honestly don’t know what I would do without his love and support. He means the world to me!
3~ His sense of humor! This man is not lacking in the humor department. I am pretty sure he has enough humor for the both of us! He is always saying something goofy or doing something goofy. It really keeps life interesting. He does it at home and at work. I love working with him!
Some co-workers of mine were trying to take a relatively serious picture because they were all wearing the same shirt. TJ of course had to photo-bomb. Typical TJ for you! Lol!
These are just a few things I love about him. I could gush on for hours but I am pretty sure you guys would get sick of me at that point. But to sum it all up, he is my better half and I could not be where I am today if he was not by my side.
What do you love about your spouse?
Snorkeling! I love snorkeling so much! Seriously one of my favorite things to do ever! We saw so many cool fish! I saw a bright purple and yellow one! It ran away before I got a good picture of it though. Anyway, here is the fun we had while we were snorkeling on the northern coast of Kauai!
Just look at how clear that water is!
Little fishies! They were everywhere!
See, what did I tell ya?!
Then there were some bigger fishies!
All over the place, I’m tellin’ ya!
I am not sure which one of this is, but it is a way cool picture!
GoPros are good for taking selfless!
i love this face!
All of us! Yay for jumping!
I love how TJ got this shot! So so cool!
If you were to look through all of the pictures we took on this trip, you would see how much we loved snorkeling. The majority of our pictures were while we were snorkeling!
Have you ever been snorkeling? What was the coolest fish you saw?!
So, I totally spaced on writing up about starting on week #2 but I definitely started it! If there is anything that I have no trouble focusing on, it is my marriage. I love being married and I love TJ more than anything in the world. I am always striving to better our relationship and making sure I am treating him the way I should be.
Anyway, here is what the goals for week two have been:
~ Respect him.
~ Offer to help him.
~ Know his love language.
~ Point out his strengths. (Be specific.)
~ Be his sexy wife.
I don’t want to go into as much detail about each of these points (especially the last one lol). These ones are things that you are going to have to think about the specifics for your husband. I feel like some of these are private things between me and TJ, kind of like our little secret. I know the ways to respect him and to love him in his love language, but I don’t want to share that with the internets. So, take a look at this list and think about your husband and how to best show him this. I have been working diligently on it this week and can’t wait to share about the next set of points to focus on here in a couple days.
On a side note, we had snow the last day or so. In May! What?! Why?! Then by Sunday it will be back up to 86 degrees. I’m telling you, Denver is crazy!
On another side note, I get to see Needtobreathe on Wednesday! I haven’t seen them since college around the time TJ and I started dating. That is a fairly long time! Considering before that, I was seeing them at least once a year. Lol.
Well, I’m off!
Alright guys, April was not a great blogging month. The song challenge was not my favorite, I’ll admit. Which is surprising because honestly I thought it would be one of my total favorites. But I just wanted to post about what was going on in my life and what I had been doing fun lately. But anyway, May is going to be better. The challenge this month is 30 Days to a Better Wife ! I am super excited about this one! I love focusing on my marriage. I love focusing on loving TJ! It is one of my favorite things to do! This challenge is also great because it is not a day by day thing, it is a week by week thing. You take a few things to focus on each week and then you work towards those. It is quite lovely. I am excited to really work on all of this
Check out the link and follow along. Maybe take some of the topics and implement them in your marriage too.
Week One: Be Interested in What He Likes To Do
~ Watch nerdy shows or paddle videos with him. The original post said watch sports with him. TJ isn’t really in to sports. White watering kayaking videos on YouTube is his version of sports. I absolutely love him for it but I had to adjust my focus for this point.
~ Ask him about his day/work. Thank goodness for him working full-time at a different job than I do this summer. I can actually ask him about his day without already knowing and being there for all of it.
~ Give him time to unwind. This one is hard for me. He works really hard at his other job. Mine is not nearly as physically exhausting so on my days off or if I am off earlier in the day I want to go outside and play. I want to ride my bike or go for a run or go for a hike. He on the other hand has been outside all day with his other job and just wants to relax. So, I need to work on not pushing him to get up and go when he has already been doing that all day.
Those are the things to focus on this week. I hope that through this month he sees just how much I really love him!
I am finally back! I know it has been a while. I can’t believe I missed the one year Anniversary of the blog! What?! I had definitely been thinking about it before I moved and then life got in the way. Sorry about that. Anyway, we are all moved in to the new house. Pictures to come very soon. I promise. Not this post but definitely soon!
But anyway, Happy anniversary to us! I plan on being more consistent this year and post more relevant posts. This past year has been great and I am looking forward to another year with you guys!
But for now, I have tried a new recipe and am here to show you just that!
Cinnamon Toast Twists:
12 slices of very soft, fresh white bread
1/4 cup (half a stick) melted butter
cinnamon sugar (1/2 C sugar + 1 teaspoon cinnamon)
Super simple and easy to whip up for breakfast.
I flattened out the bread, like the recipe calls for.
Then I spread both sides with melted butter. ( I did not say this recipe was healthy)
Sprinkled one side with cinnamon sugar. ( My sweet tooth is loving this!)
I folded the sides in and rolled it up. Not as easy as it sounds.
Definitely make sure you put them in the mini cupcake sheet so that they stay shut. Otherwise they will open and you will have an even bigger mess.
I only did six pieces of bread for just TJ and I.
All golden and delicious!
Cinnamon twists and eggs! Yummy!
I have tried a couple other recipes but forgot to take pictures! Will take pictures next time and will get those pictures up soon!
So, two years ago today TJ asked me to be his wife. We have now been married almost a year and half and I honestly couldn’t be happier. I love hearing engagement stories. There is just something so magical about hearing the romancing that went into asking to spend the rest of your life with someone. There are only few really big moments in a persons life and getting engaged is definitely one of them. It is a moment that every girl (well almost every girl) dreams about. I thought I would share my engagement story with you. It is fun for me to look back and makes me draw closer to him too!
So, here we go.
We went up to his house for the weekend from school. We went up to celebrate his sister’s birthday, which also happens to be the day that he proposed. I was not expecting anything. We had talked about it but I did not expect to be on this trip or even this soon really. I was completely oblivious as I am about most things. We had gone up after classes on Friday and spent the night with his family. We actually had gotten into an argument about something that night. I can’t remember what it was and it was probably something completely stupid anyway. We went to sleep, I upstairs and he in the basement. It was not a good night sleep after being on edge with each other. The next morning he comes upstairs and kisses my forehead and tells me to get freshened up and breakfast will be ready in a couple minutes. I thought he was trying to make amends for the night before. So, I get up and meet him downstairs. We walk over to the apartment above the garage (which was where we spent our first year of marriage.). I am still not expecting anything. He is carrying a tray full of delicious breakfast foods. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals and he made sure to include my favorite parts of breakfast including grape juice and bacon. 🙂
We made it up to the apartment and I open the door first and there are candles all over the apartment! Again, first thing in the morning I was completely oblivious to what was going on. I thought he was seriously trying to make up for the night before. I was pretty impressed. So, we sat down at the little dining room table and ate breakfast and talked about how we slept and bad dreams and what not. He then put on some music and held out his hand for me to dance. I thought it was just cheesy and cute and still thinking, man he is really going all out for this making amends. We dance for about a minute and then he stops right next to this little table that I had not noticed before. He goes down on one knee and asks me to be his wife and then points to the little table. I did not see this coming, so my initial reaction was legitimately, “Oh Crap!” I then started crying and obviously said yes. The ring was a table that had candles arranged in the shape of a heart. It was in the middle of the heart so it made the ring super sparkly.
It was one of the best moments! Now, here I am a year and a half in and I don’t regret any part of it!
How did your husband propose or how did you propose to your wife?
P.s. Happy voting day!
There is nothing like a dressing room mirror to bring you back to reality about how out of shape you actually are. It is a cruel mistress who just tells it like it is. She doesn’t hide anything or sugar coat anything, she just flat out tells you that your body is not the way it should be. Well, needless to say she and I had a meeting the other day and it was not a pretty one. Really put things into perspective for me. I am not in the position I used to be back in high school or even college. I have gotten lazy and just figured I had a great metabolism and would never gain weight. Well, that was complete ignorance. I am definitely being brutally honest here. There are areas where I have noticed more weight gain than others but now I’m really realizing how out of shape I am. Last night before I fell asleep I spent some time on pinterest (I’m telling you it is really bad having it on my phone now) and found this great exercise program for new or previous runners who have not run in a while. I have to get my cardio up and get back in shape so this seemed appealing.
Here is the link before I go any farther.
I saw it and it was on my mind last night and this morning. I was going to wait until TJ went to work but then realized he might enjoy doing some cardio with me. Wow, this exercise really proved how out of shape I am. The first day doesn’t sound that hard but I am telling, I was working for it and could feel my heart rate escalate for sure. I have a feeling we are going to stick with doing it. We may switch out their strengthening and ab workouts for ones that we already really enjoy but we both want to get back in shape and get running again and this is a great way to ease back into it I think. So, I will keep you up to date on how the week goes as we go through this routine. It is nice to have something to do with my hubby that isn’t P90X.
Update on 99 Things to be Thankful for about your Hubby:
I definitely have not realized how much I do not thank my hubby for stuffs. This is going just about as well as the 10 days of praying for you hubby. I feel like a horrible wife. I really do not build him up as much as I thought I did. Definitely a mindset to change.
We did go through a really funny list of questions together last night. Here is the link. It was fun just asking each other some silly and some serious questions that we honestly did not know the answer to. So, that one I found on pinterest as well. I am on a spree of doing stuff I actually found on pinterest. Crazy!
Well, I’m off.
This past weekend was my birthday weekend! It was on Friday and my hubby had the whole day planned out. He is amazing! First he let me sleep in, which was much appreciated.
Then we made our way to Pittsburgh. I love the city of Pittsburgh. If we were not moving to Denver here in just over two weeks, I would make us move closer to Pittsburgh. First of all, it is just a great city and it is really beautiful if you like slightly run down but making a come back kind of places. But anyway, we went to Pittsburgh to go to our favorite climbing gym. It has this massive bouldering area which is exactly the type of climbing that we love. We spent several hours in there just climbing to our hearts content. We definitely realized that we are not nearly as good of climbers as we thought. I mean we knew we were not great but I at least felt like I could be better. We are hoping that once we move to Denver, we can find a great gym to get involved in. We want to climb on a much more regular basis.
After we were exhausted enough from climbing, we went closer to the heart of Pittsburgh and hit up the REI store and Cheesecake factory there. I could not help but being giddy while I was walking through REI because I know that I will be working there in three weeks! So excited! Just knowing that I will be working in an environment that I actually like and knowing that I get those pro deals just makes me super super excited!
Then we hit up the Cheesecake Factory. MMMMMMM That place has delicious food. I had their chicken parm sandwich. So yummy! Yay! Then I had the Adam’s Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple cheesecake. Dude, it has butterfingers and reese’s in it. What is there not to love about that cheesecake?!
After that, he surprised me with a trip to the Drive-in to see Madagascar 3 and Snow White and the Huntsman. Oh my word. So awesome! I love the drive-in and he could not have picked a better ending to the night! Both movies were awesome!
Overall, I could not have had a better Birthday date day with my hubby! That led in to the rest of the weekend which was work work work work.
Well, I am off to eat and continue packing up my house! Yay moving!
Ok, I know that this post is several days late but my weekend was super crazy! What with working, homework, internship, meetings, and more homework it was just a whirl of a weekend. But here is the post nonetheless.
So, I have had several friends ask me recently, why do I blog?
I gave them the typical vague answer of its fun. While that is definitely part of my answer, I think there is more to it than that. I blog for a lot of reasons.
One of them is that I love learning something new and sharing what I am learning with other people. I seriously love learning new knitting techniques, new climbing moves or techniques, new recipes, new places to visit, a better way to start a business, etc. I just love finding out how other people do things. So, not only am I learning but I love to share my findings with other people. I am not someone who can just keep something that I just figured out to myself. I am constantly telling my husband about a new recipe or a new technique I learned in knitting (poor TJ).
Another reason why I blog kind of goes along with the first one, it gives me an opportunity to find people with similar interests and who are much better at doing some things than I am. I can go and read their blogs and find out more about how they do certain things and learn from them. It provides me with such a wide variety of outlets to learn from that I love it!
I also love the community that comes with blogging. Fifteen to twenty years ago there was no blogging. We did not have this outlet to see how other people live their lives all around the world. We did not have this way of communicating with people we had never met in person. There are people that I have met through blogging that I would not have had any other chance of meeting. You really get to know all kinds of different people who lead different lives than you and that is just wonderful to me! I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and taking part in their lives and this is just one way that I can do that.
I also love to blog because it gives me a creative outlet to where I can share what I’m learning with who I am meeting, and I can also talk about current projects and life in general. It helps me get out some of my talking so that I do not keep my husband up too late talking about what I’m learning. Although, some days I start reading other peoples blogs and finding out more and more cool stuff and then those nights I feel bad because I do not shut up to my husband.
Blogging is just fun! It is a great outlet and a great way to meet new people and a great way to build a business. I would recommend blogging to just about everyone!
P.S. Here is my progress on my Epic Blanket of Insanity
Its comin along!
