So, while I say that Huskies are wonderful, they also are not great sometimes. They have their quirks. I mean that is just like any dog you know? Huskies can just be way more intense about their quirks than some dogs.
Reasons NOT to Have Huskies
~ They are crazy! Like seriously insane. Faelyn at four and a half is just now finally starting to calm down. If you do not get them out, they will get destructive. They are a high energy dog and need to be taken out regularly. They really must live in an active lifestyle.
~ They are very independent. If you give them a command they will often look at you and think “that sounds like a good idea, but let me see if that fits in with my plan.” They like to do what they want to do, not always what you want them to do.
~ They are extremely smart. This is great sometimes but sometimes they are just too smart for their own good. They will get in trouble in ways that you never expected they would. They get into things you didn’t think they knew what it was.
~ They like to run. And I mean run. When they escape from an enclosed space they pick one direction and just keep on running. It takes a lot to get them back. We often have to bribe our boys with car rides. We pull up alongside them and ask them if they want to go for a ride. That is the only way that we can get them to come home.
~ They can be highly destructive. HIGHLY. Most of the time most people don’t understand that a husky is not your typical family dog. They are not great to just be left inside. They need attention and running or hiking or just getting out and exercising. They are a working dog. They make wonderful family dogs if you are a very active family. If not, don’t get one. You will be so upset with this dog all the time. You have to keep them active otherwise they get cabin fever and destroy things.
So, when you think about getting a Husky, please keep both of these posts in mind and make sure you are getting the right fit for your family as well as for them!
I love my two huskies more than anything (except maybe my husband ;P ). I don’t think everyone should have them. They are their own special breed. You have to have the right dynamic to have huskies. Anyway, that is for the next post. But here are the reasons they are awesome!
~ They are crazy! I know I know most people don’t think that is a great reason to have a dog. But I love their spastic crazy personalities. They have so much personality.
(btw not my photo but so stinking hilarious and true) My boys would definitely try something like this.
~They have amazingly beautiful eyes! Bright blue or even mismatched colors!
This is my little man, his eyes are so bright and blue, I love it!
~They sleep in the most hilarious positions!
These are just a few of the positions I have caught both of them in.
~They are pack dogs. This means they are extremely loyal. Not only to each other but to their owners as well. It is a great trait that I wouldn’t trade for the world. That doesn’t mean they have to be by your side at all times because they are still insanely independent.
I love having huskies! I don’t think I would want any other breed. They are wonderful!
Alrighty, well I have really been avoiding the blog lately because I keep saying, Oh I need to post about Hawaii. That task just seems so daunting right now lol. We took so many pictures and did so many things that it seems like such a monster to tackle. I am not sure how I feel about tackling said monster at this point. So, instead of avoiding the blog I am just going to continue blogging. Fun things happen everyday and I miss talking with you guys! Hawaii will come, I do promise that. I am just not quite sure at what time. First thing to do is find the SD card with all the pictures. I think I might have misplaced it. Oops!
We are now into the month of October! Yay! I am so happy and ready for all of the fall weather and fashions. Not gonna lie, the more layers the better! Love it! I have made my first pumpkin chocolate chip bread of the season. So yummy! I got the recipe here. You should definitely give it a shot! It was a hit at the little friend gathering I went to as well, so it wasn’t just me munching away at this deliciousness! Are you guys excited about the changing weather as well? Or is that just a me thing?
Also, we have snowcapped mountains now! I love the Colorado mountains all year long, but they are especially beautiful when they are snowcapped. When it is sunrise, the sun reflects off of them often in pink and purple colors that just cannot be beat. Seeing the snow up there means that some of the ski mountains will be starting their season soon. That is music to my ears! We have started getting our ski gear in at work and I could not be happier. It is giving me the itch to get out there and “shred some gnar”.
Cooler weather means Faelyn and I get out a little more. It is so hard to take a husky outside when it is blazing hot. But we are now going hiking a couple times a week. That keeps him from getting destructive as is the tendency of bored huskies. I love seeing all the colors and getting a good cardio session in at the same time. You just cannot go wrong with a good hike!
Well, I’m off to enjoy this beautiful weather! Hope your fall is starting off awesome!
So, I was wracking my brain on the way home from work today, trying to figure out what in the world to take a picture to demonstrate joyous. I mean don’t get me wrong, I am super excited about all the snow we are getting. And that is something to be joyous about. The season itself is something to be joyous about. It is a celebration of the birth of Christ! But I really was just drawing a blank on how to photograph joyous.
I then got home and we are dog sitting another husky right now, so that means two huskies in the house. They needed to go potty right away. They did their business right away and then started going crazy in the snow. Huskies love snow, I have come to find out. Like really love snow! As I am watching them bolting around the yard, I realize what demonstrates joyous better than two huskies and their love for snow?!?!! So, I ran inside and grabbed my camera. I think I got a few decent shots!
You can just see the half crazed looks in their eyes. LOL!
Snow makes huskies super playful! 🙂
After got a little worn down, they stopped long enough for me to grab a couple of glamour shots. 😛
I love my beautiful boy! His eyes get me every time!
Halo got in the way a little bit on this one, but I just love it anyway.
Halo is awesome! He has one blue eye and one brown eye and apparently loves to eat snow! Lol!
It is the month of December!!!! This means Christmas is so close! I am so excited! This is my favorite month of the year! The Christmas season is always my favorite. The lights, the food, the snow, the reason for the season! I love all of it. 🙂
There is one downside, I work retail and honestly the Christmas season is definitely a madhouse. It makes the season go by way too quickly. Well, this December I have decided to embrace the holidays fully! I have found this challenge on pinterest sometime either this year or last year, I can’t remember but I think it will help me take a step back each day and enjoy the little things each day!
Feel free to join along! I realize I am on day two but that just means I have to share the first two with you now!
So, here is my view today:
We are watching a friend’s husky for a while. His name is Halo. He is 9 years old and completely a sweet heart. Faelyn and Halo get along great! TJ also got a whitewater kayak yesterday and has been so excited about it that it hasn’t left the house to be stored in the garage yet. Lol.
This is my favorite holiday as well as probably my all time favorite movie. I am such a sap, I’m aware lol. So, when I saw that I needed to take a picture of it, I decided it needed to be watched too. Lol. So TJ sat through it with me this morning. Definitely helps get me in the holiday spirit!
Keep checking back to see more of me getting into the holiday spirit!
Hope you guys are ready for Christmas!
I know I probably post about my little man alot. He really is like my child. He is the best and yet the worst at times. He is a cutie and a terror. He is a baby and wise. He loves to play and loves to sleep. He has two speeds, spaz and completely asleep. He has a thing for minty flavors such as toothpaste and tums. He hates when we leave and protests sometimes violently. He is a loner at the dog park but does not shy away from running and chasing other dogs when the opportunity arises. He likes to hide in small spaces. He loves fluffy beds and couches. He loves to escape. He has the most beautiful eyes. He loves to cuddle in the mornings (only the mornings). He loves to give kisses whether you want them or not. He loves to tear apart the trash. He loves to tear apart make-up bags. (Weird right?) He is a husky. He is my little man and adds so much to our little family.
I found a bunch of pictures of my little man, so I’m going to share him with you. He’s a cutie!
The many shades of my little guy. Love him!
Do you have any pups? I would love to see pictures!
How ironic is it that the day we are supposed to blog about R is the day my husband and his friends plan for us to go rock climbing? Haha!
Today was the first time we have been rock climbing in a while. It had just been so cold and I am not a cold weather climber unless it is in a gym that is warmer. But anyway, that is beside the point. Today, was so good to get out and rock climb. I meant to take more pictures, but I just had too much fun climbing and enjoying the fresh spring air. I took a couple and will show you those pictures first and then I will post some other pictures from previous rock climbing expeditions. I realized just how long it had been since I had rock climbed. My fingers were definitely not wanting to hold me to the wall today. Haha! Time to get back out there and climb more so that I can get my strength back up. Waitressing definitely keeps the strength up in my arms and hands but not my fingers.
Here are the pictures from today!
Faelyn heard turkeys down in the valley and was ready to go hunt them down. Haha! He was perched up there for about ten minutes just listening and ready to pounce.
TJ carrying the crash pads with the dog almost pulling him down the hill. They were both super happy to be out and are now both pooped after running around.
This is at one of our favorite climbing places at school. It used to be an old rail road bridge. But the bridge became too unstable for a train to go across and so they moved it over and the old pillars still stand and are owned by the Lynchburg Climbing Club. It is just wonderful and so much fun to climb. On this one we definitely use rope.
This was just a couple of months ago and the place we were at today, Hunter Rocks. We do not use rope here because the rocks are not very high and so landing on crash pads are all that is necessary to break our fall. We love bouldering.
Time to go shower off and get ready to go out for dinner with my hubby!
